Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our AOS interview today and Alla and the boys will receive thier green cards in 2-3 weeks!!!! I look forward to two years of USCIS free life!!!!!!

We arrived at the St. Albans Vermont office at 10:45 for our 11am appointment (Alla was 11am, Pasha was 11:30) At 10:56 Alla was called in by the officer and asked to bring her "evidence", even though our appointment letter said only to bring her passport and I-94. I suspected as much and brought copies of anything and everything we ever gave to USCIS.
She was brought into the office and sworn in. Then they asked all the questions on the I-485..."are you a terrorist, drug dealer, prostitute, etc." Then they went through her G-325 and asked her the name of her parents, where she was born, etc. (Pasha and I were in the waiting room at this point) Then they asked to see her "evidence" and she gave them the stack and they glanced through it, no questions asked. They asked no questions about me, my work or any... read complete review

Review Topic: Other Experience

I received my first NOA2 in a normal and timely manner. Then, I waited two months during which time the NVC did not receive my application. I contacted the USCIS and the NVC regularly, but my application did not arrive at the NVC and the USCIS did not know the whereabouts of my approved application. I was told, by a USCIS rep to wait 30 days before asking that a 'locate' alert be placed on my approved application in their computer system. Finally, after 60 days, a very knowledgeable and courteous rep said that he should place an 'request' in the system to locate my application. Consequently, the USCIS found my application, assigned a new validity date to it, and I am told it will be forwarded to the NVC.

Review Topic: General Review

I've always had excellent advice and help at St Alban's VT. Here is my AOS interview experience...

The security check consisted of a ropey old x-ray machine that choked a little as it took my stuff through. For those of you who have been to the St Albans office, you can imagine this hulk of a machine takes up half the waiting room now. Just as well there is never anyone there.

We were then called (40 mins late) and escorted through to an office. The two of us carried in files and documents we had lovingly prepared with tabs and infamous acco clips. I was a little surprised we weren't sworn in, but wasn't going to question the guv'nor. The interviewer (Gary) asked me for my passport with the I-94, and AP. He started going through the file he had received from Missouri, which contained my original AOS application. He apologised that it would probably take longer than usual as none the files he received from Missouri were correct. He pointed at a mountain of ... read complete review
